The Hon. Mrs Anson Chan (GBM, GCMG, CBE, JP)

To many people in Hong Kong, epilepsy is a taboo subject. A good deal of ignorance and stigma exist to the detriment of both the sufferers (estimated to be about 70,000) and their families.

Enlighten is a small local charity founded by a small group of concerned and caring individuals who spare no efforts to raise public awareness, dispel the common myths surrounding epilepsy, and help both sufferers and their families to cope with this affliction and to lead normal lives.

I am always heartened by the huge impact Enlighten has, particularly through its training and public awareness programmes. 

I am delighted to be involved with this charity because it truly makes a meaningful difference to the lives of epileptic sufferers and their families. 

The organization deserves your whole-hearted support.
