Our Mission, Vision  &  Objectives:

The stigma associated with Epilepsy in Hong Kong is out of proportion and results in public prejudice, misunderstanding, and fear as most people do not know what to do when they witness a seizure.  This means that in Hong Kong, those who are affected by Epilepsy are forced to live in silence for fear they are discriminated against professionally and socially. We know of many cases where misunderstanding and misinformation have lead to unnecessary injuries and traumatic experiences for those with    epilepsy

 

Our Mission: Is to widen opportunities and choices for people affected by epilepsy and to raise awareness of epilepsy issues in all sectors of the community.  

Our Vision: Is that people with epilepsy will achieve greater control of their lives through adequate levels of support and will be given equal opportunities in our society.

  

Enlightens key objectives , (as per our Memorandum and Articles of Association) are:

The Charity is established for charitable purposes to promote public awareness, knowledge and understanding relating to the problem of epilepsy and to co-ordinate and undertake work to remedy the injury and suffering of people with epilepsy in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the world.

 

In furtherance of the aforementioned objects to:

      i.        provide social welfare services for people with epilepsy and their family, carers and friends, including counselling, support and befriending, non-medical welfare advice, home visiting, financial help, if needed, assistance with housing and employment, social club and recreational facilities, organising annual holidays for such people and their family, carers and friends, and encouragement in the formation of branches and self-help groups, and the promotion of self-advocacy;

 

     ii.        encourage active participation by the users;

 

    iii.        promote a modern appreciation of the significance of epilepsy and of the potential of many people with epilepsy, with a view to dispelling prejudice against them;

 

   iv.        participate in measures to increase paid employment and to provide work centres, vocational training and sheltered workshops and groups;

 

    v.        maintain close co-operation with similar organisations in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the world and to co-operate closely with agencies for other disabled persons;

 

   vi.        provide consultancy, training and advisory services to central government authorities and agencies, local authorities, local enterprise companies, voluntary sector organisations and any other persons in relation to epilepsy and associated issues; 

 

  vii.        prepare, organise and/or conduct conferences, seminars and course programmes of all kinds;

 

 viii.        enter into arrangement, for the provision of services, whether training, advisory or consultancy in relation to epilepsy and associated issues;

 

    ix.        design, prepare, publish, print and/or distribute by an appropriate communications media information packs, leaflets, books, newsletters, magazines, posters and other publications, audio and video recordings and display materials, gratuitously or otherwise.
